Jojoba Oil

Hey Vault 101 fans. Today’s blog is about Jojoba oil. We are going to talk about where it comes from, what it us used for and why you should buy some from us. 😉

Jojoba Oil as well as being fun to say (JOJOBA JOJOBA JOJOBA) is technically not an oil. It’s and liquid wax that comes from the seeds of the Simmondsia Chinensis plant, which is an evergreen desert shrub native to southern California, southern Arizona and northwest Mexico.

Jojoba Oil is a very stable, long lasting oil that does not deteriorate or turn rancid easily. Jojoba Oil has anti-inflammatory properties, is an anti oxidant and also contains vitamins B, C and E as well as minerals such as  chromium, copper and zinc. Jojoba oil also has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

Native Americans where the first to recognise the benefits of Jojoba oil by extracting it from the seeds they used to treat sores and wounds as well as sunburn. Jojoba oil is an additive in many cosmetic products as well as moisturisers, hair shampoos and conditioners. There is even Jojoba Bio-diesel that can serve as a substitute for petroleum diesel.

Jojoba oil is used in body piercing industry to moisturize the areas of dry skin around piercings, simply massage a couple of drops gently into the skin around a piercing can bring relief to dry areas. It can also be used on our wooden plugs to condition them, simply add a drop or two and rub in with a cloth.

As well as moisturising Jojoba Oil is also a great pre-stretching conditioner. Jojoba is very similar to sebum, a secretion we produce to help moisturise and keep skin waterproof which makes its easily absorbed by skin and doesn’t leave you feeling greasy afterword. For pre-stretching massage a little oil on the area you want to stretch twice daily. Please be sure to use enough oil to just treat the immediate area as oil does spread very easy so a little goes a long way.

As always please checkout our other blog posts for other aftercare and general piercing info. Also be sure to follow and like Vault 101 on Instagram & Facebook to keep up with all the latest news and offers.
