How to Measure a Labret Bar

How to measure a labret bar? (monroe or medusa stud)

Labret bars are can be used in multiple body parts including lips & cheeks as well as various ear piercings and therefore come in quite a large range of sizes from 6mm to 25mm. It is important to know the correct size you need in order to maintain a healthy piercing otherwise it could migrate, take much longer to heal or just reject completely.

If you are using a labret bar on a new piercing you should always allow room for swelling, this is the same with all piercings, your initial barbell will always be longer than necessary to allow for this …or it should be anyways. If there is no room for swelling it can cause problems and take far longer to heal than necessary.

Once your piercing is healed you may wish to downsize to a smaller bar, this is where it can be confusing as its easy to forget what size you already have meaning its tricky to work out what size you want next.

All of our piercings are measured internally, so on a labret it is always the inside diameter that we display. This measurement does not include the stem of the labret, the ball or the thread. Just the wearable length. Have a look at the picture below which better explains how the measurement is taken.
