Needle or Gun?

Hey Vault fans.

Today’s blog tackles an issue that many people new to body piercings may encounter. Should I get pierced with a needle or a piercing gun?

First of all we would like to make it clear that here at Vault 101 we do not pierce people ourselves, our job is to supply all of you beautiful people with the best quality items at the lowest possible prices, but we do have many piercings ourselves and we also have connections to local piercings studios in our area. Basically we know our stuff, and we are here to pass that knowledge on to you (you are welcome).

You are thinking about getting a part of you pierced? First of all that’s great. But you are unsure whether or not to get pierced with a piercing gun at a shopping centre or go to your local piercing studio and get one there.

Piercing guns have been used for years in shopping centres and department stores piercing people of all ages. Today though, professional body piercers would like to see the piercing gun banned. The main reasons for this your own safety. Getting pierced with a gun can not only cause tissue damage but there is a higher risk of infection and trauma, especially with young people. Further more the staff who work there tend to be severely under trained in the art of piercing and have vastly inferior knowledge of the human body compared to a fully licensed piercing you would find in a studio. Although piercing guns use sterile studs and clasps to pierce ears for example the piercing gun itself can never be guaranteed to be sterile to matter how hard its cleaned, minute blood splatter and other micro organisms unseeable with the naked eye may be lurking around, and can cause infection.

The other option of course is going to your local piercing studio and getting pierced with a needle. We do understand that this can be intimidating for some people, the phobia of needle (trypanophobia 😜) is not only common but completely understandable, I mean who likes needles anyway? Do not worry though as we are here to put you mind at ease. Every single needle used in a piercing studio will be sterilised in a autoclave before use. The needle is hollow and very sharp which not only means it will be less painful but it will also leave a much cleaner and healthier hole. With a sterile needle and sterile jewellery the risk of infection is considerably less, this teamed with a licensed piercer is nothing but good news.

In summary we would strongly advise getting any piercing done with a needle. Of course we are not telling what to do. If you are happy to get pierced with a gun by all means do so, I am sure there are some good places out there but we personally here at Vault 101 would always advise the needle.

Of course if have any questions about this topic and found it helpful or any other topic for that matter feel free to contact us, maybe you have a question about a dog or something, and if you didn’t find this interesting do not contact us, as were really busy, too busy for criticism 😉

Or drop Vault 101 a line on social media, or tell me how inaccurate and annoying this blog was whilst liking the pictures of the tree I am growing.

Peace!  🤙🏻🤙🏻
