How to remove the ball from a BCR (Ball Closure Ring).

How do I get the ball out of a BCR? This is a common question we get asked!

Most piercings are threaded, meaning the ball screws either into a bar or off a bar …however the BCR is slightly different. It has little indentations on either side of the ball and held in securely by the tension of the ring itself.

This means that the ball will not “unscrew” it will just spin in place as its not being held in by a threaded bar.

There are a couple of methods for releasing the ball depending on how tightly it is being held in place. Firstly the ball may be pulled out by hand by forcing the ball from the ring or by gently twisting the ring.

The best method is to use long nose pliers or preferably BCR / Circular barbell opening pliers.

By placing the pliers through the ring and VERY GENTLY opening them until the ball is released. Being forceful or stretching the ring to far will mean the ring will be too loose for the ball to be inserted back in place.

We hope you find this helpful!
