What Size Piercing For…(Insert Piercing Name Here)?
Hi guys, one of thee most asked questions without a doubt is “what size piercing for…(insert piercing name here)” …its a frustrating one to answer in all honesty.
As body modification enthusiasts we believe that if you have paid for somebody to insert things into your body which causes you pain in the name of fashion ….you should at least know what size it is and definitely what it is made from.
Because all you beautiful people out there are so different, so unique …that makes it very hard for us to tell you what size you actually need. Everyone’s nose, lips, nipples, penis and tongues are different. Fuller lips need a larger hoop, if you’re 4′ 11″ and have tiny ears the labret bar through your lobe may be shorter, maybe you just find a larger piercing more comfortable or stylish.
When it comes to piercing thickness, this can either be a choice made by the customer in the piercing parlour or some piercing professionals will have a preferred gauge to pierce with depending on the piercing. The length will be decided based on how large it needs to be depending on your body part and then also larger to allow for the initial swelling …you have paid for the piercing, you are more than allowed to ask them what size bar you have been given 😉

We will create little sub blogs with general size guides for each piercing but they will only contain an approximation. In the mean time.
- ASK YOUR PIERCER WHAT SIZE YOUR PIERCING IS #knowledgeispower
- When choosing replacement jewellery our advice is to always measure your current piercing. If you aren’t sure how to do this we have handy guides here!
- How do I measure? Preferably with digital measuring calipers or a gauge wheel (not a ruler) we sell them here.
As a rule of thumb here is an average size guide for a few popular piercings (Thickness x Length/Diameter) …dont hold us to it though.
